Johnny Depp's Yorkies Escape Death

Facing the threat of imminent death, Johnny Depp’s dogs Pistol and Boo fled Australia for the United States on Friday after Australia’s agriculture minister angrily accused the Hollywood actor of sneaking the pups into the country.

A Department of Agriculture officer escorted the Yorkshire terriers from Depp’s home – where they had been temporarily quarantined – to the airport on Friday evening, Agriculture Minister Barnaby Joyce said in a statement. The tiny outlaws promptly boarded a flight to California, just hours before a government-imposed deadline that the dogs leave Australia or be euthanized.

The hastily-arranged departure came after Joyce accused Depp of smuggling the dogs aboard his private jet when he returned to Australia on April 21 to resume filming of the 5th installment in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie series at Gold Coast Studios.


Australia has strict quarantine regulations to prevent diseases such as rabies spreading to its shores. Bringing pets into the country involves applying for a permit and a quarantine on arrival of at least 10 days.

The Agriculture Department told Depp and his wife Amber Heard on Wednesday that they had to send Pistol and Boo back to the United States within 72 hours or the animals would be euthanized. And they did.

Coyotes Stealing yorkies in New York and New Jersey

An attacking coyote grabbed a Yorkshire terrier and retreated to the woods of suburban New Jersey with the dog hanging from its jaws on Tuesday night, according to the Randolph Township Police.


With both New Jersey and nearby New York City residents reporting an increased coyote presence this spring, local cops notified the state Division of Fish and Wildlife about the incident, police said.

Animal observers noted the first sighting of a coyote in New Jersey in 1939, but state officials notched only 29 other reports of the critters in the Garden State in the 40 years afterward, according the agency. Now, the “extremely adaptable” animals have popped up in almost 400 municipalities across all 21 of the state’s counties, agency officials say.

Dog Flu Spreading

A canine flu outbreak has affected hundreds of pets throughout the Midwest. The canine flu has been reported in four states, including Wisconsin, with many cases in Chicago and northern Illinois.


 Symptoms include:

• Coughing
• Sneezing
• Variable fever
• Clear nasal discharge that progresses to thick, yellowish-green mucus
• Rapid/difficult breathing
• Loss of appetite
• Lethargy

The canine flu is contagious. It can be given to dogs by other dogs and even by humans.

People can carry it on their skin for up to 12 hours and on their clothes for 24 hours.



The canine flu outbreak in Chicago has prompted officials to tell dog owners to postpone trips to dog parks and doggy daycare centers until the worst of the outbreak passes. Dogs younger than one year and older than seven are most at risk.

Although it's called a canine influenza, health officials said the virus also infects cats. No evidence exists that the virus is transmissible from dogs to people.

 

 The virus has sickened more than 1,100 dogs in the Midwest, probably spread rapidly when pet owners boarded their dogs while on spring vacations, according to the Associated Press.

Yorkie Haircuts

It's haircut  day! I don't mind,  I  have a very  sexy  male  hairdresser, who pampers  me and kisses  me!

Most Yorkies keep their ears pointed - but my dads  like mine  to grow out  and be  "whispy".

I think they call my cut a  Westie Cut. The Westie Cut is a great  style for active Yorkies! In this style, the entire body is trimmed to leave only a few inches of hair, though you can make it longer or shorter depending on your personal preference. The beard is rounded. The fur around the forehead is often shaved short or pulled into a topknot to allow your Yorkie maximum eyesight.

You know how your dog  tucks himself in, getting the blanket  JUST  RIGHT?


In this cute video, while the little tot is sleeping peacefully, Misty (the Yorkie)  starts poking around, looking like she's trying to wake the peaceful little bubba up. Curious to see what she was going to do next, the baby's watchful parents pulled out a camera and started recording. What they caught of video is absolutely adorable! Apparently, Misty didn't think her new little human was cozy enough, and proceeds to tuck the baby in nice and secure.

Dogs on Death Row

It just breaks my heart.  How can someone be SO LAZY, to just give up your dog and not even  TRY  to find  a new home  for the pet?  Just dump it off  and not care about the dog's feelings.  SICK!


It happens everyday, dogs are given up and their hearts are broken. Some are adopted out and many out there are put to sleep.


That's what happened to Miley, who was devastated when her owners surrendered her at at Los Angeles pound this week. Miley wouldn't raise her head, terrified at where she was she sat in the corner. Marley, who was another owner surrendered did her best to cheer Miley up. Trying to play with Miley and to get her to lift her head. Marley has already been dumped twice at the shelter, but has a big enough heart to try to cheer up her new friend Miley.

Poker Playing Yorkie Jilli Dog Passes at 17

RICK CARAN and his famous Yorkshire Terrier  JILLI DOG entertained audiences around the world with wildly wonderful Poker Card Tricks!  Sadly, Jilli passed  on recently, at age 17.

Missing Yorkie from Texas Found in Indianapolis

These stories are so unbelievable!

A 10-year-old Yorkie has turned up in Indianapolis    SIX YEARS  after he disappeared from his comfortable home in Austin, Texas, reports WTHR in Indianapolis.  (1100  miles  away!)

A kind passerby saw the forlorn Yorkie on an Indianapolis sidewalk earlier this week and took pity on the poor pup. She brought the matted, hungry and flea-bitten pooch to Post Road Vet Clinic, hoping someone would claim him.

One of the first things clinicians look for in a found animal is an identification microchip.


“Looking at him when he came in, we were like, ‘He is not going to be chipped,’ because he was covered in fleas, looked terrible, his teeth were terrible,” vet tech Diana Redmond told WTHR.
When the clinicians scanned for the chip, they were surprised to learn the pup was not only registered, but that he disappeared from Austin, Texas, six years ago. They called the phone number attached to the identification and the dog’s owners were ecstatic to learn their dog was found.

 Soon, he will be reunited with his family.

“We actually have someone who is traveling to Austin Thursday night, so she will take him with her,” Danielle Beck of Indy Lost Pet Alert told WTHR.

The key to this homecoming was the microchip.

“It is rare for a dog to be missing for six years and be secured with a microchip,” Beck told the television station.

My little girl is now officially an Emotional Support / Service Dog.

She can now go EVERYWHERE with me.  For a small fee  I got her the paperwork.  ($70)  and  for about  $40  and  I got her a little  vest to wear.  That allows her to go into restaurants  with me and hotels.

For air travel,  most airlines require a note from your doctor as well, stating  your dog helps in relieving  anxiety, in my case. And most airlines  will waive  the normal  travel fee for a dog and most airlines allow me to have her on my lap, instead of under the seat, stressing both me and her out. Every airlines handles this a little different. So when booking your ticket, explain you have an emotional support dog.
