Yorkshire Terrier Rescue

The Yorkshire Terrier National Rescue Inc. was founded in 1997.

"We are dedicated to finding the best possible homes for
Yorkshire Terriers in our care, regardless of age, sight, hearing or
other handicaps. Everyday we help local pounds and other types
of shelters find Yorkies in need of our help in relocating
homeless and abandoned pets."
Stop by and see their website and help any way you can!
They have representation in most states, but not all.
They have many Yorkies that need homes
and money to pay for operations.
"Please consider joining our organization as a volunteer.
You can help by rescuing, transporting, and
fostering these unfortunate little dogs.
No matter how small or how large your contribution of time,
love, or money – you can make the difference in
whether a dog lives or dies. Please help us save these
Yorkies. If you cannot foster or transport a rescue,
we can use your skills in other ways.
We need volunteers to craft items to raise money for
the medical expenses of our dogs, or donate computer skills
to help make our organization more efficient, or simply help
us by spreading the word about puppy mills and our organization.
Please go to our website at www.YorkieRescue.com
and fill out a volunteer application today. "

Yorkie Hero - Yorkie Doodle Dandy Book

A REAL HERO!

This week, my daddy read me the best story!
It's called, "Yorkie Doodle Dandy!"
It's about a miniature Yorkshire Terrier that
was a hero during World War II.
Normally, I don't care for war stories and war movies.
But this was really good!
FOUND IN THE JUNGLES OF NEW GUINEA IN 1944,
SMOKY, a four-pound Yorkie, was bought by Bill Wynne for
$6.44 American. He taught her many tricks, and she entertained
troops in camps and hospitals from Australia to Korea.
It was not long before she became a hero . . .
I don't want to give away too much, but
it's a wonderful story for any animal lover.
And you can buy it direct for $12 and get a copy
personally signed! And it's available through
our Amazon link for about $11.
Yorkie Doodle Dandy is not just another story of a man and his dog.
It is a real life story of a miracle and what is meant to be will be.
You will laugh and you will cry.
Enjoy.

YORKIE ANGEL PATROL

I just discovered The Yorkie Angel Patrol!
They are an awesome information resource center!
"The Yorkie Angel Patrol is comprised of a group of dedicated
people who are owned and loved by Yorkshire Terriers.
Our mission is to provide general information on the breed and
help pet owners with questions concerning genetic diseases and
assist them in finding the right resources."
My daddy found a great cookie recipe on their
site for Chicken Flavored Cookies!

Nashville Yorkie saga continues

In loving memory of Gizmo
I just HATE to report sad stories,
because this blog is about the good, the happy, the fun, the love...
not the sad and bad.
However, there's a reason for sharing this story.
In Spring 2004, in Nashville, a
man was been charged with killing his neighbor's 2-pound
miniature Yorkshire terrier by place-kicking it into
the air like a football.

Chad Daniel Crawford, 23, was booked on charges
of cruelty to animals and felony vandalism.
He was freed after posting $25,000 bond.
Jelani Lewis and Jessica McKenzie said they were shocked
and outraged by the death of their 17-year-old dog, Gizmo.
Lewis was on the grounds of his apartment complex Tuesday when he
said he saw one of three men holding the dog like a football.
``The other one backed up and kicked him like a place-kicker,''
said Lewis, who couldn't get there fast enough to save his pet.

Gizmo flew through the air in a high arc, hit the pavement and
rolled a few feet beneath a parked car.
The dog was dead when he hit the ground and the men
were laughing, Lewis said.
``I didn't believe that they kicked my dog, Lewis told
The Tennessean newspaper. ``When I saw him kick it,
I was thinking, maybe for a second, 'No, that isn't Gizmo.'

Lewis said he chased the men and caught Crawford, then made
him pick up Gizmo's body and take it upstairs to McKenzie.
Lewis said he held Crawford until police arrived.
Michael Davis was also charged in the incident.
This past fall, the two men who made world news headlines
two years ago, settled a lawsuit brought by the dog's owners.
Chad Crawford, 26, and Michael Davis, 23, settled the suit
for an undisclosed amount, a Nashville lawyer said.

The pair also face animal cruelty charges in the incident
and are to be tried in Nashville in February.
Both have pleaded not guilty.
CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?!
THERE ARE WITNESSES, HELLO!
The reason for sharing this story is to
ask for everyone's help!
The petition is to demand justice. 5,000 signatures are
needed to present it to the Attorney General.
PLEASE STOP BY AND SHOW YOUR SUPPORT.
Pet's are like children. We love unconditionally.
We do not know hate or prejudice.
Please help protect us!

Coco Chanel's Baby Photo

A reader in Boston wrote in and asked:
"Dear Ms. Chanel, I just found your blog and love it!
Tell us more about you! Can we see your baby picture?"
This is my baby picture.....I was the runt of 8 children!
2 of my siblings did not survive unfortunately.
And my poor birth mother was exhausted after 5 weeks
and hard time feeding all of us, so we were
given up for adoption early. This photo was at 6weeks,
in my new home. I was born in Flushing, Michigan,
but then my adoptive parents took me to Oakland County,
outside of Metropolitan Detroit. Now I jet-set back
and fourth between Michigan and Chicago!
Thanks for reading!

Party Yorkie
